Los Altos, California
Los Altos probably has the most interesting, and new, history in Silicon Valley. Part of this is because the town of under 30,000 is relatively new. The history of Los Altos started in 1906 with Paul Shoup and a group of investors. This led to the town being named “Los Altos,” which is Spanish for “the heights,” because the land sits at the highest on that cutoff.
Los Altos sits on the southern edge of the San Francisco Peninsula, within the borders of Santa Clara County. Most of the town’s growth is known for occurring between 1950 and 1980. Los Altos began as an agricultural town boasting many summer cottages and apricot orchards.

Those looking to live a Los Altos home will be able to take advantage of the Los Altos Farmers Market, which is open every Thursday from May to September, 4pm to 8pm. The market is known for its delicious foods, like Roti chicken and Indian Curry. Sugar crepes are also great, as the fruit selection is great and varies with the season. Above all, to prospective Los Altos home residents this is friendly town.

In the ZIP codes of 94022 and 94024, Los Altos home values were placed as the 7th and 33rd most expensive ZIP codes in the United States by Forbes in 2014. Los Altos is known for being served by highly esteemed private and religious schools and the city got its first history museum, the Los Altos History Museum, in 2001. The 8200-square-foot building was built all with private donations and is adjacent to the Los Altos Library. If you’re looking to invest in a Los Altos home, you will find the museum has various kinds of galleries and one permanent, known as the “Crown of the Peninsula.”
Grace Keng will be your Los Altos friend when you want to move to a Los Altos home!
